What We Seek

What We Seek

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

What We Seek

We pen romance in pages of delight,

our pathetic pathos feels so just

to bathe our tortured, convicted hearts

and leave the spirit of pure hope

as we depart to our place of destiny.

We paint a picture of belief

a thing of natural beauty,

of colours inked upon

parchment skin

that sing a melody

of peace and trust and

ease our passage to the skies.

There we seek angels

in siren’s garb

to seep our manhood deep

in the nectar of Venus true

and leave us to savour

the blood of our enemies.

Great job John! Your pros speak brilliance and they flow eloquently. You definitely have a strong command of the English language and you know how to use it to your advantage. I love stories/poems that not only use their story to suck me in, but also the beauty of their words which is exactly what you have done. Excellent work my friend!

I bow to your kindness Kiran and am grateful you like some of my writing.
ha... if Tim Taylor could write.... enjoyed reading this one, especially the ending where I had a sudden urge to pick up a sword and conquer something.

I think you have pieced a variation of images together very well, a soundly expressed critique I felt

Sheema you are most kind to me!
At first I was getting poets, at the end I was thinking warriors...either way, stunning write, as usual. I play a little game with myself, John...I always try to figure out which of your pieces is directed at a certain somebody we all know and love. I started to see that in the beginning but by the end I knew I was mistaken ;-)

This poem is nothing short of being amazing, John! Your choice of words in each line weaves a web that holds the reader spellbound. The imagery you conveyed in this write along with its fluidity, tantalizes the senses so eloquently. Wonderfully penned. Thanks for sharing :)
