Avoiding Damnation

Avoiding Damnation

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Avoiding Damnation

You stole fragments of my soul

as I slept in trust and hope

in your unmade bed of lies.

You deftly swept the pieces

under your carpet of deceit

where I could not reach them.

I fell so easily,

black widow’s prey,

into your spun web of delusions,

where you tried to ensnare me.

A child of love

who holds no gods,

but I swear I heard an angel's cry.

A crystal melody of truth,

begging me to flee,

urging my escape from

the burning gates of hell.

The pain from such a wound lingers for profound chunks of time. You've captured the hurt and disillusionment unraveling of the lies and deceit received from another given heart, mind, and soul. The soul weeps. Wonderfully written

Many thanks QSS
I can almost visualize you running like the wind with the flames of hell licking at your britches.

It was scary!
Oh the illusions and delusions of love! Castles built to be pulled down. And the aftermath… accusations bitter as gall and the hurt of raw oozing sores. The charges are damning and the regret is intense.

All conveyed through fabulous wording and imagery. Thank you for sharing this poem John! It' was a great read!

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
