HumanityA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenHumanity What
lays beneath the depth of such emotions as
can render adult hearts to aspic, cause
knees to buckle with
the weakness of surrender, and
enslave the soul in chains of dreams? What
mystery inspires such eloquence to
flow from the poet’s pen or
insatiate the ardent suitor’s lips to
spill sweet, romantic syllables? What
wonder does cause the musician to
play a solo symphony? or
the painter to choose the
oils for his canvas well? What
feelings lead a man to
slaughter his neighbour for
the colour of his skin or
leave the raped and starving child to
learn that no one really cares? 25/01/13 © 2013 John Alexander McFadyenReviews
