Helen

Helen

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Helen

She stood before

the burning walls

of Troy

and wept at

her own destructive power.

How could a single

female heart and face unleash

such wanton destruction.

But in her

bitter tear

was only hollow

sadness

as she revelled

in her complete

and utter

captivation of man.

I wish they did in my world mate!
We so need to swap if that's the case!!
As a male it is brilliant you could come to such great understanding of the female mind. I love how you've (excuse the pun) captured Helen here. I think if I were in her situation I would feel this exact mix of emotions, many women have been here on a smaller scale and I am sure will relate to this work as I do. I adore the simplicity of delivery, because it de-tangles the thought process while trying to digest the complexity of the emotional board you've set up here. Great job, really.

Wow - I thought Helen was abducted - yet here we find she was actually playing men off against each other! Interesting write .... although helen might have disagreed with your portrayal :)

really enjoyed this...

only thing i would say is if in the tear is only hollow sadness, surely it wouldn't be bitter?

While I never made her acquaintance--and I'm old enough to have done so--this seems a likely portrait.
She was a woman, wasn't she?
