Moving On

Moving On

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Moving On

The stripped muscle of my meaty heart

is scoured deep.

Lacerations from jagged glass

you used to score your victory

bleed free.

But I am a gladiator at last,

and used to such poetic pain

from the many battles I have lost;

I heal well.

I ready my ravaged, beaten torso,

cleansed in the soothing milk of hope,

to meet my next challenge.

Killer imagery here John, flipped the switch here of a warrior, I wouldn't want to get in your way unless you got milk. ;-)

I knew that. ;-)
What a wonderful poem of strength and survival. I especially loved the lines:

"But I am a gladiator at last,

and used to such poetic pain

from the many battles I have lost;

I heal well."

Many thanks Jack. Unfortunately too many of us can relate similar experiences.
What a challenge it will be, I must say the imagery here John gives one tingles and awe at the same time, well done, good read.

Well done, the heart of a true poet is indeed durable. It's pain that perpetuates our strength.

True PH. Many thanks
No one reviewed this? What a shame. It is, not surprisingly, right up my alley, and I can relate.

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
