Dandelion

Inspired by the film 'Dandelion'.

She waded in waters deep,
not knowing what was under,
not caring what lay below.
The currents began to soothe her,
as she held out her arms and cried.

A morning gust of wind awakened him,
she was not there by his side.
He stumbled toward the water,
his eyes lost among the haze.

He jumped into the lake and pulled her close,
dragged her to the water's edge.
Weeping at the sky he held her tight,
knowing that in the blink of an eye his whole life had died.


 

Author's Note

In the movie Dandelion there is a scene where Mason,his friend,and his girlfriend are smoking meth. After Mason and his friend pass out she wades into the water. He wakes up and finds her floating out there. It really unsettled me so I wrote this poem about it.
