My Favorite ReadA Poem by AiHIt was storming out Rain pounding against my window Decorating the glass with
miniature waterfalls I shudder inside my sweater But not because of the cold The cold couldn’t touch me here It was the words They danced in front of my eyes Like they would jump off the page The characters crawling out like
spiders Tangling me with their webs Trapping me- I am immobile I was so entranced by the
language So invested in the story I didn’t even hear you arrive Pushing a stray hair back Away from my eyes you held me Tilting my face up to yours “I wonder if you look at me- The way you look at those pages Or if only they get such an
honor” You smiled as you spoke Teasing me with truth I could see it in your eyes-
curiosity I closed the book then Moving so your standing in
between my legs Trapping you in my web “The pages are special” I say “but you are my favorite read.” © 2017 AiH |
