It Was Always You

It Was Always You

A Poem by AiH

You know when you fall in love? That feeling in your blood, like its alive, like you can feel it swim in your veins?

I do. I recognize the feeling of electricity whenever you enter a room. I don’t need to look to know it’s you, the chills I get raising valleys on my arms is enough indication that you have arrived.

I know why they call it falling now.

Because it’s like tittering over the edge of a jagged cliff blind folded, falling down a hundred miles per hour not knowing if the impact is your arms or the icy water…

But, its more than just falling, isn’t it? Its floating. It’s like being placed into a balloon and let off into the wind, floating over the landscape, counting all the flowers that are red and yellow.

Sometimes I wonder if I made love seem so passionate I wouldn’t know what real love was when I found it.  But it was you.

It was always you.

You proved me wrong. You taught me that the butterflies I felt when we kissed which turned into warmth wasn’t boredom, it was comfort.

I was always driven towards passion, towards art, towards adventure, the unknown.

And when I saw you there, just sitting, I swear I saw colors I never saw before.

Because it’s you, darling.

It was always, and always will

Be

You.
