Rotten Candy and Broken Locks

Rotten Candy and Broken Locks

A Poem by AiH

My skin secretes the venomous bacteria you embedded in my skin
With lies like liquid gold I trusted your sins
Your eyes like the ocean pulled me in
It's waves throwing me back to shore
Your taffy textured arms wrapped me in sweet promises

I believed in the high your surgery words spoke
And instead of keeping my treasure locked in my armored chest
I gave you the key
only to have you leave it in the rain
to bleed orange rust like autumn leaves decaying on the cracked sidewalk
