Hello.

 

One word

5 letters

Such a simple word

But behind it is so much potential.

 

Hello

That’s what you said to me, but I pretended I didn’t hear it

So you would say it again.

 

Hello was our beginning

But hello is just hello.

 

You said hello

And before me, I witnessed our future

 

“Hello.” 

Was all that was said between us

 

And with that you smiled

A smile so bright it made the sun jealous.

 

Then you walked away

Skimming my arm as you past, igniting my skin where you had touched me

 

I turned to watch you walk away

Clutching a book in your hands

Headphones dangling out of your ears

 

You turned back as you boarded the bus and smiled

A small, innocent grin.

 

“Hello...” I whispered to myself

Toying with how the word now sounded different

On my lips

Then turned my back to him and went about my current path.

 

But I felt something

Something deep inside-

My humanity

Come alive
