Burn, O' Parvaneh

Burn, O' Parvaneh

A Poem by Parvaneh

Playing perfumed tambourines
and singing ancient aubades,
I dance through hidden deserts
of lovelorn lost troubadours.
Wearing scrolls of our forbidden tales
like talismans around my heart
I call out Your name;
from dawn to dawn.

"O' Parvaneh!
Become one with the golden sand now
and whirl from atom to atom;
burning your enamored bosom
in this separation from the lover's chest.
So its swirling red smoke
emanate love's fragrance
like a thousand sacred incense...
... and reach the Beloved's Harem."
