Heart as a RoseA Poem by Partha
In the month of Feb, on that day With a stem of rose in my hand I went to you and I did convey “As a gift from me will you seed this plant?” With deep disdain in your eyes You threw my gift to the puddle of clay Like a fallen angel in disguise You ripped my heart in a violent way. I questioned God in my loudest tone The answer came after some days The neglected stem somehow has grown Maybe by blessed with heaven’s rays. One month went since I was killed Then one day I saw you there Looking at the plant’s final yield In your hazel eyes I saw despair. With delicate drops of morning dew Against all hopes a rose did bud My tears they were I wish you knew And the dark red rose, it was my blood. © 2008 ParthaFeatured Review
