Chasing KitesA Poem by WestYouth and love in the face of growing up
We were like children,
she and I, chasing kites on a summer day. Aimless, we ran over hills,
through valleys and thickets of tall grass. We kept our eyes skyward; squinting, we stared at the sun. We chased and pushed and played, until we knew not from whence we came; but the weather was warm, so we laid down and told secrets for a while. As the day waned and the sky darkened, we heard the rumblings of our youth fade to whispers of our demise. Frightened, we wanted to return home but had no idea which way to go. So we ran all over, faster and farther than before... over hills through valleys, and thickets of tall grass, until we ran headlong off the peak overlooking our childhood homes. On the way down I tried to think of something to say, but found nothing © 2011 WestAuthor's Note
