Breathe

Breathe

A Poem by Kathryn Smith

I cannot breathe
For they might take you away
From me
I cannot see
Their eyes have been watching me
Is God full of wrath?
You're cheating on God
With me
But what if this love
Was God made?
What if it was his plan?
Are we doomed?
Or will we wed?
I can see it all now
We have such a journey ahead
But still I cannot breathe
This summer has been a cruel eternity
This case has been dragging on
And I refuse
To walk away

So I must breathe
With my white knuckles
My sleepless nights
My nervous stomach
I must breathe
And solider on
I have faith
Thy will be done

I liked the tone of the poem. Like someone whispering a secret wish dear Kathryn. You allowed the reader to fall into your thoughts. Sometime faith is all we have. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.
