Love is Love

Love is Love

A Poem by Kathryn Smith

The stained glass windows

They aren't the same

Without you

Their sparkle

Is dull

Your picture in the walkway

Stripped

As though you never meant anything

But you spirit remains

In me

In my eyes

In my smile and soul

I often wonder

Why God placed you in my life

For loving someone

You can never have

Is a cruel and unusual punishment

The wind is growing colder

The eyes of the church

Growing curious

And I miss you

With every passing day

Every tick of the clock

I remember you looking at me in awe

Remarking that I was genuine

That I was an inspiration

That you loved me

I remember our laughing

and our nervous energy

When we hugged

And I didn't let go

It all began in February

And ended in June

But our dreams remain

and you still cheer me on

I the heartbroken girl

Will love you

from afar

forever

After all

Love

is love

There shall be no rules left

at all
