Dear Future Husband

Dear Future Husband

A Story by Kathryn Smith

Dear Future Husband,
As of right now, I am 26 years old.

And I feel utterly broken and empty.

I am trying very hard to stay strong and to be positive..

But my heart and faith has been broken by a few men.

Did you know that I am so lonely I have fallen in love with a dead man?

He died in 1916 and I like to think he is watching over me.

His light lurks in my peripheral vision every day.

And though you are not here yet, he fills your gap.

Right now I just feel very unsure.

Unsure of where I am going.

But isn't that the beauty of life?

You truly never know what's going to be around the corner.

Maybe you are a man I already know.

Maybe you are right under my nose.

Maybe you are Michael; the boy I married at the age of 10.

Maybe you are one of my current crushes; like Mr. Rooney or Andy.

Perhaps you don't exist.

Maybe I will never marry.

That would absolutely break my heart, you know.

Everyone has their person.

Everyone deserves to be loved.

And I have so much love to give.

Either way, I hope you come soon.

Because I have found myself more sad than happy lately.

Maybe it is the winter. (Probably!)

I will love you fiercely.

And I know without a doubt you're going to be one hell of a man.

You aren't going to always make me happy...

But you are going to make every single bullet hole in my heart filled and eased.

I can't wait to find you!

Love always,

Your future wife.

xoxo
