Andy

Andy

A Poem by Kathryn Smith

Without you

The night is so damn l   o   n   g

and I wish you were here.

Someday we'll look at the stars

and forget the world around us.

I carved your name

in the core of my heart.

For you are my friend.

And forever I'll always be.

Your words bring me comfort.

They give me smiles.

Happiness.

Glee.

And you make me so weak in the knees.

I want you here next to me.

In my bed sheets.

Underneath a night sky.

I want your protection.

Your steady shy smile

I want you to listen

To my dreams

Your kindness is my medicine.

You are what gets me through the days.

Life doesn't always promise happiness.

But at least it promises moments.

Moments that strangers can share.

And proof that people out there still care.

One day we could catch fire flies.

We could breathe in summer air.

Dream impossible things.

Defy odds.

Dare to share it all.

Andy

When we can feel

Together

We will rise

This is never your best writing Kat. It has a lot of cliche (weak at the knees) but that is tempered by the sincerity throughout and the - I think Annette already said - purity.
It's clearly written from the heart and that's what poetry - to me - is all about.
Brava - my friend.
