And I am smiling


Because of this glorious freedom


Freedom I thought my heart wouldn't know


Let alone see


My head is held high


My feet have touched down


They're planted in the ground


I survived the worst of it all


And my heart joyful




Finally




My legs are running in motion


Arms in air


Sprinting gleeful light


My shadow races the sun


For I have new butterflies


They won't come undone


The girl I knew last summer 


With a tear stained face


Soaked pillow case


Broken in half


Hiding in the dark


Shriveled


Wasting away


Dying from hurt


Has risen today





I can feel again


So I'll jump again
