To Dad

To Dad

A Story by Kathryn Smith

Daddy.

Where do I begin?

Remember when you took me strawberry picking? On the way to the fields you played House on Pooh Corner in the car and I was taken away by the magic and nostalgia.

Remember how you played me The Beatles? You still do today.

You pick out various parts in songs and tell me how much you love it.

I've found a lot of my fondest memories of you involve cars.

Dad, I'm scared.

You have a lump on your arm.

And it's painful.

You keep popping Tylenol like candy.

It is alarming mom.

You keep going to doctor after doctor and no one can figure out what is wrong.

Tomorrow you have another appointment.

Tomorrow, I hope we find out what's going on.

Dad If anything, you are brave.

So brave.

This is probably nothing.

George said his dad had the same thing - and he's okay.

And Nicholle said her dad dealt with the same issue.

I hope this doesn't sound bad but - this scare has made me take the time to look at you more.

To listen to you.

I know we will not live forever.

I love you so much.

Best of luck tomorrow.

I'll be thinking of you.

Love,

Your daughter
