The First Nowell

The First Nowell

A Chapter by Kathryn Smith

In sheer joy, when he had finished beating on his drum, Solomon bounded back up the hill to Jacob and the shepherds.

Smiling ear to ear, he had changed from a broken little boy, to the happiest boy on earth.

He smiled at me!..He looked at me Jacob!..He looked and he smiled!!!!

Bubbling over, the drummer boy could not contain his excitement and wonder.

He spoke a mile a minute. He's exactly like me! A poor family they seem to be...but they'll be on their way tomorrow .

With great pride, Solomon took Jacob by the hand and together, they stumbled down the hill and into the stable to admire the Christ child.

While gazing at the baby, Jacob felt the tickling sensation he had felt in the sky just days before.

And abruptly the time and people around him froze.

He found himself in darkness.

And soon, he was back in sky.
