Ghost of a Girl

Ghost of a Girl

A Story by Kathryn Smith

My clothes of white

Hands covered in powder

Face painted porcelain

Lips of brown

My cheeks hollow

My eyes of lonely mischief

In the dead of night

They scan the town

This is Halloween

Where I can finally see

A ghost I'll be

Jack O Lanterns glow

Monsters put on a show

Candy bit

Spirits soar

Children fleeing

 In joyous terror and wit

I float to the cemetery

To say hello to my friends

Skulls and Bones

We fly high across the sky

With witches and warlocks

Bats up high

A ghost I am and a ghost I've been

As usual

No soul can see me

But they can feel me

I'll wail and thrash

Smash and crash

I'll break plates

He will shake and quake

I'll glide through enchanted streets

Under a cool starry sky

Deep across the ocean

He'll finally see me

A girl of a ghost

It's my time to shine

and I'll make him cry

Scary, Kathryn! 8-(
Your delightfully rendered Free Style poem has me spooked, shaking, quivering, and shrinking into the shadows to escape all the denizens out flying and creeping about.
I know this is a Halloween composition, but there is a kind of sad resolve in it, too; metaphor flowing between and throughout your lines that whelms all else, culminating in a bit of lonely somberness.

Whatever, I love your skills that can author the most captivating and enthralling stories and books, and on the turn of a dime, a brilliant poem any poet would envy.
A huge HUG for sharing another amazing dimension of You with Us, Kathryn ⁓ Richard
