Freedom P2

Freedom P2

A Poem by Kathryn Smith

She got back up

and she dusted off her knees

With a click of her new high heels

She strutted down the sidewalk

Heads turned

Jaws dropped

Eyes watched

She was finally back

With more power she ever had

Demanding respect wherever she went

Holding attention when she entered a room

She would no longer sink

Now a woman

Now a priority

She smiled for she found her worth

The sun burst with happiness

The stars twinkled brighter

A real man saw her

and at that moment she noticed in his eyes

What she had wanted all along

A reflection of boldness

A heart of fullness

Dignity

Faith

Love

She felt her freedom
