Freedom Part 1

Freedom Part 1

A Story by Kathryn Smith

I heard it from the State

They told me you were never gonna let me get away

And my heart goes beat beat beat
To the music of his sad same song
It's quite depressing there's no fixing to the problem
When you're talking to an idiot

I had to get away

I had to get away

You once told me

You wanted my mind

and you got it

You held it in your cold hands

and filled it with false hope

false words

false love

When I came back to get my mind

You scourged me

and in your cold bare hands

You captured me

Tore my heart open

Joy decomposed

Hope ran from my eyes

Innocence drained out

It trickled down my cheeks

I broke in half

You left my body vacant

For I could not dance

Crashing

Thrashing

I ran away

I needed air

I had to get away

But your ghost ran after me

Still in your cell I reside

A wicked thing you did

To lock me away and hide

In the distance I heard a whistle

In the dead of night there came a train

The train wreck you created ran

For I could see the light

At the end of my hellish prison

I took my feet of sores

My fingers of shame

My head of torture

I tasted freedom

This body of mine

She has a name

Beautiful I am

and Beautiful I'll be

That is one thing

You never did take from me

I can see on the horizon

A better place

A place full of love and wonder

Off the tracks I jumped

Hit the ground sprinting

I entered a new world

A world where I could become

A woman who was  free from you

No longer torn
