For Daniel

For Daniel

A Story by Kathryn Smith

Daniel.

You're somebody in this world whom I simply will always love.

I read an interview from you recently.

And I was struck by your constant humbleness

and saddened by your sadness.

You said you were at a gig with a beautiful sunset.

Yet a part of you couldn't feel truly happy.

Daniel I hope you know.

Your music has helped me in so many ways.

Your struggles sound a lot like mine..

and how I'd love to look up at the stars with you.

We can our bitter pessimistic selves.

I can see you.

I can really see you.

Your voice gives me comfort.

A home

A hope

A love

I know you don't think much of yourself..

and I do not think much of myself

but if anything

You should be very proud

Its music that will always make us fly free

A beautiful thought for others that bring joy to you, seeing them as fallible, imperfect and most of all, human.
