Your Poem

A Chapter by Kathryn Smith

Your Poem

What’s a girl to do? Especially when she has to deal with you.

Under a wall of red

My heart broke in your bed.

Daylight seeped through your window and I was full of dread

You were sound asleep. Your head on my head.

Did I ruin the magic? Did I love you enough?

Did I love too much?

You are sad and how I desperately wish

I wish I could see you through.

One night you made me curry. Another night we had cake.

We laughed. I talked.

But I could never look at you.

A broken girl I am. A broken man you are.

But together we built joy!

With a low roar of music; mars could hear it.

I could taste it on your lips.

But I was too late.

What is a girl to do?

When goodbye was said too soon.

And when a kiss couldn’t make us move.

"...when a kiss couldn't make us move." A kiss, especially when performed early in the love cycle, can dazzle like the sun. When that sparkle is gone it settles into a more sedate form of love expression. But if that relationship cracks? dazzle is gone and sedate is replaced by fear and longing. Pain is now the foot path as the aggrieved struggles forward. That pain must be ground to a pulp of dust to walk on smooth ground again. Time then does its job, to soothe and replace the broken bits.
Just beautiful, K.

We are lucky when two people meet seeking redemption but sometime timing and being lucky is missed.
"When goodbye was said too soon.
And when a kiss couldn’t make us move. "
The above lines. Landing for the many of us. Thank you Kathryn for sharing the amazing poetry.
