You Dont Know

You Dont Know

A Chapter by Kathryn Smith

You Don’t Know

You don’t know

In the morning when you rubbed my back

I wanted to roll over to face you and touch you

But paralyzed I couldn’t move

You lulled me to sleep

But you don’t know

You don’t know

I put my toothbrush next to yours

But it felt like I was moving in

So I put it back in my suitcase

You don’t know

The silence felt right

But did it torment you?

You don’t know

After you left

When you cycled to work

I went back to your bed

I crawled under the covers on the side where you slept

I was still and warm and snug

Breathing you in

I day dreamed a hazy happy dream

A dream where you loved me so

I didn’t want you to go

Now you know.

The days of loving and retouching wonderful place.

I liked the lines above. The smell, the memory and the leftover warmth. A nice place to remember. Thank you Kathryn for sharing the outstanding poetry.
