I BelieveA Story by Kathryn SmithThe 4th of May. I sat in my favorite sunny spot in the library, losing myself in short stories by Sylvia Plath. For most of the day, Star Wars has been making headlines. "May the fourth be with you!" has been filling my ears since the early hours of morning. As I was reading, I began to marvel at how strong words can be. And that reminded me of someone... A bell began to ring in my head. May 4th. May 4th. What was today? It finally hit me. Today was my favorite icon's birthday. A legend. A grace. A beauty. Today was Audrey Hepburn's Birthday. I believe that in a world full of lies and destruction... In a world full of fakes, negativity, darkness, and hate, Audrey's words bring back light and truth. They ring with restoration. They are genuine, pure, and full of love. I believe Audrey's attitude towards life was refreshing. Something we all needed to see and hear. I strive to be like her. To have her mindset. On hard days I like to flip back the pages in my head and remember her quotes... and I am automatically put back in line. Hepburn was known for her movies and her style. But what some do not know is, she helped save thousands from the Nazis. She worked with organizations and sheltered and fed the poor. Her life wasn't always glamorous and I applaud her for it all. She is the definition of a woman and what a woman should be. Here's to you Audrey. For all you did. For all you said. For who you were. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. © 2016 Kathryn SmithReviews
