To Finn, with Love

To Finn, with Love

A Story by Kathryn Smith

There is just something about the number 13.

My Grandmother died on April 13th 2011.

My best friend left us on April 13th 2012.

and Cory Monteith passed away on July 13th 2013.

We all have our favorite television shows.

One of my favorites was called Glee.

A show about misfits.

One of the reasons why I fell in love with Glee, was because of a specific character.

Cory portrayed Finn Hudson, a goofy and lovable jock who enjoyed singing.

Finn was someone I could identify with. Looking back, that's the reason why I loved him so much.

Finn was smart in a unique way.

He sometimes didn't have a filter, but meant the best in his heart.

His heart was enormous and it sometimes got him in trouble.

Watching Finn progress and grow through the show was a treat.

Cory did a spectacular job playing a typical high school boy.

Outside of Glee it's said Cory was the sweetest man.

I'll never know if it's true or not....but just by watching how he interacted with people, and hearing of certain things he did, it was obvious he really was a wonderful man.

I learned a lot from the character of Finn, and if it weren't for Cory I don't know how I would've gotten through my high school years.

Even though he's gone, I'll always remember him.

With love, this writing is for Cory, and for Finn, too.

Thank you Mr. Monteith, for teaching me.

For teaching me how to be me...and to be okay with it no matter what others think.
