Pompeii

Many days fell away with nothing to show

And the walls kept tumbling down in the city that we love

Great clouds rolled over the hills bringing darkness from above

But if you close your eyes….

 

This song is the most special.

It is what made Bastille break into  America. This is the song that is most well known by others.

It is what made people stop and listen because it’s not what you usually hear on the radio.

It tells of history that is incredibly depressing if you listen to the words.

This is what is played at the very end of every show that brings every human being to their feet in sheer excitement.

It is the very song that played in my dream one night long before I knew of Bastille.  

This song is Pompeii.

 

Pompeii made me want to learn more…and I ended up learning a lot of very interesting things. This music painted such a clear and terrifying picture in my head. Not many songs take you back in time and can make you see the destruction Mount Vesuvius created.  

You can see the panic.

You can taste the ash.

You can hear the silence that is unbearably loud.
