Purple HeartA Poem by Eve'To the veterans of love and war"I wanted to call her, but I knew she would ask about things that I couldn't tell her. That maybe I'd slip up and slide down, precariously perched in middle ground; Once upon a time in a fairy tale, I held my own pain; I cradled it in swaddling clothes. I thought that he would be my savior. I always thought true love returned in waving banners and conquering sons; She should have known better anyway, there is a reason in everything even in seasons of despair that only the trust of truth can see her through. Things will be, as they are meant to be, they can not be anything else. what is, just is... A purple heart hangs upon a wall for valor. I painted it there myself, It hangs over her head to remind her, just how great the cost. © 2011 EveReviews
