Edge of AutumnA Poem by EveEdge of Autumn
I heard your voice echoing from the womb of canyons, murmuring my name. Winding rock against earthen bowl beneath the grind of grain. You tried to pin me under your fingers a stormy sea of mercury and blame. I held you moments beyond the last crest of breath crisp within my lungs. You wore me like a camel's thirst a burden upon your back. I splashed you organdy against an evening sky, wood smoked and winter rye. You felt me billow with the falling rain crying past the edge of autumn. Yet you hungered and still you fed upon the desert breast lips cracked and carrion dry. © 2008 EveReviews
