Sideways Grind

Sideways Grind

In all the ways

that you hurt

papercut stings

fingerprints of blood

turn the page

of new life coming

changing again

last time something big

turning it's face

to the sun

masticating with it's mouth

open

churning up words to taste them

better

moments inhaled and

rubbing together in the

white of smooth in a

lemon gold sun

 streaming

bleaching out the colors

you touch with your tongue

tips of forgetfullness

swallow the pill

heal

you wonder where he is

and what he's been

and smile

it won't compare to where

you are

on a slow drag of

how it feels

owned

and you own it

because no one can take it away

not even him

it's inside and it belongs

like a starlit halo

on a sideways grind.
