Frankenstein's CharactersA Story by TravisFrankenstein's Characters
"Ugh, I wish you told me you weren't planning to go to that party, I wouldn’t have volunteered if you did." My mom complained, she was practically a teenager in an adults body. "No, mom, the whole point that I didn’t go was because you volunteered. But now you have to go, don’t worry, Cara and Beck will just argue about grammar and movies all night." I told her, which just got another loud sigh of anguish out of her. She moped over to her purse and keys, kissed my forehead and left. I got out the candy bowl and put it out of my friends reach, on top of the fridge. I waited a few minutes at the TV, and then the doorbell finally rang, hopefully not trick or treaters already trying to get the bigger candies. I opened the door and sure enough stood a lazily done werewolf and a banana, both on their phones, and ages on the very cusp of being too old for trick or treating. I gave them mini chocolates and sent them off. Finally after a few more agonizing minutes I heard arguing at the front door, something about sentence structure for some school project. I opened the door and let the arguing old couple in, pausing only to get a breath of air and to ask where the candy was, to which I pointed to the top of the fridge. They finally stopped arguing, walked over to the fridge, and Beck lifted Cara up to grab the bowl of sweets. "Never underestimate a kids love for candy" Cara said through laffy taffy teeth. We all laughed and sat down at the couch while the night became darker. We sat there for hours watching and arguing about movies, constantly getting up to feed the kids who came scratching at our door, sometimes Beck and Cara didn’t stop arguing while handing out the candy, yelling at each other from across the room. Finally it got too late for little kids to be out, and older kids to throw eggs and steal candy and we watched the movies in peace. "Ugggghhhhhhh." My mom groaned, falling onto the floor after closing the door. "I hate those greedy monsters, promise you never have any, okay Leo?" She said, dragging herself like a zombie over and onto the couch, taking the candy bowl as she sat up. "Hey!" Beck cried. "My house. My candy." Was all my mom said, promptly digging into one of the hidden large candy bars she stuck at the very bottom. She fell asleep halfway through the movie, waking up randomly to ask questions about the characters. She finally went up to bed and said goodnight, dropping a few candy bars for us, and taking the whole bowl upstairs with her. We finished up the movie, but not without Cara and Back arguing about what it actually meant. They got up and stretched, hugged me and said goodnight. They left and I checked the couch, making sure I won't get any candy in my hair, and I fell asleep.
