Irony

Irony

A Poem by Travis

Irony

I see Harmony Middle school

As I did when I first entered,

Ironic.

Like a Rust-Oleum can corroded through.

Anything but what the name provides

To the mind

Walls looking for entertainment through the students,

Like a reality TV show but real.

From those stories of weekend parties,

To silent name calling said only with eyes in the halls,

And untrue rumors spread.

Doors chuckle at the tension of stress

Teachers unaware of the black market bullying,

Unwise to the imaginary daggers lining hallways,

Deaf to whispers of kids.

Most delinquents found get a slap on the wrist,

And a few days out of the sea of work.

Parents chuckle at the excuse of challenge in middle school.

Say it's just like when they were their age.

We won a safe school award that year,

A surprise to the students, but an expectation fulfilled among the teachers.

Anything but what the name provides

To the mind.

Travis
I wrote this for my writing class when we had to write about a childhood memory. As you can see, i didn't have the best experience, haha.

I remember it very clearly. I believe those were the hardest days of my life. Well done!
