Sky, Sea, StoneA Poem by Willow RobertsonA poem I wrote about, you guessed it, the sky, the sea and the earthThe sky Is made of rippling fabric That changes colors With the time At day it is blue and white And billows with the wind And the gleam of the fabric moves And creates our sun At night the fabric is deep blue It is silent and vast and deep And the fabric is ripped with holes That let a silver light shine down And the holes reveal a new dimension The sea Is built from a deep abyss That never ends and drags down Into darkness At the beginning it was clear And cool with small waves that Washed ashore and painted the sands With crabs and shells That are snapped up by gulls that rest on water Near the end the abyss is black And dark monsters swirl in the water Creating swells of surging water That breeds fear and misery The earth Is forged of solid metal That is firm and steady And it never sways At the center it is firm Yet the vibrations of every step Every skip and trip and walk Echo around the metal And the metal mourns the passing Of every single pulse of life But the earth doesn’t waver in grief Nor does it shed a single tear Because the Earth is constant and enduring © 2015 Willow RobertsonAuthor's Note
