I Am.

I Am.

A Poem by Preston

I am a being.
I am the bruise on abused face.
I am the distain in a parents eyes.
I am a match, burned.
I am words, expression.
I am laughter, universal.
I am a new shirt, clean.
I am a first kiss, face red, heart pounding.
I am a widows broken heart.
I am a sweater, wrapped around you.
I am a scale, telling sins.
I am a lie, pointless.
I am color, thrown askew.
I am a star, casted wishes.
I am anger, consuming.
I am a penny, unimportant.
I am a convict, life taken.
I am bitten fingernails, nervous.
I am war, the worlds hatred.
I am a boy, unsure.
I am a girl, scarred.
I am a knife, forever scarred.
I am a tear, broken dreams.
I am music, beautifully sound.
I am a friendship, lost.
I am bones, purging starvation.
I am beauty, fake.
I am love, forever.
I am time, ageless.
I am insanity, reality lost.
I am emptiness, waiting.
I am smoke, cloudy.
I am the dead, trapped underground.
I am a child, neglected.
I am the outcast, alone.
I am the sun, shining.
I am kittens, soft.
I am hope, fingers crossed.
I am goodbyes, regretful.
I am youth, innocent.
I am death, forever lurking.
I am an eating disorder, never good enough.
I am books, read over again.
I am a flower, forever blooming.
I am a smile, warming.
I am a mirror, insecurities.
I am a being.
I am everything and anything.
I am nothing.

This is outstanding. Outstanding. Every image was well crafted. Every word aptly placed. It builds and flows effortlessly painting a picture all the while.

this is powerful and well written, well expressed, the entirety is etching and
full of a sorrowing image of abuse, you did a great job, keep it up.

Narcissism unveiled.
A stirring self-portrait.

I must send you some of my self-portraits as well, you'd like them.

Nice job, short phrases and immaculate observations.

You cease to amaze me darling Payton. I love every single phrase in this poem. My two favorites are : I am an eating disorder, never good enough. And: I am a first kiss, face red, heart pounding.
However, I have mixed feelings about the longness of it. I love the end, the build up the longness of the poem has, but I found myself waning, because some of the things in there weren't as interesting. Which don't get me wrong, doesn't mean you aren't. Or that you shouldn't have put them in there. Whatever you believe you are, that is what you should put down. Which is why I love the longness of it, because it's so pure and raw and lets us see you in a different light, in a personal way that most poems can't show.
Great job!(: I love it, as always.
