The Child of Faith

The Child of Faith

A Poem by PandaPeaceful

Shouts of immortality rung in her ears,
palpitating past her brain and into her heart.
But although they begged and cried,
her figure disappeared.

There was a myth about a young girl,
breaking rules and following a path.
But there were three paths to choose,
and only one of them was right.

For she had chosen the wrong one,
and now had to pay the price.
She mourned and dreamt,
like an angel waiting for the sun.

She carried the child in her dying hands,
and wished for a better beyond.
Though the grey stuck to her vision,
she realized the light in the distance.

And so slowly her thoughts melted,
like a cube of ice, calmly drifting away.
But she smiled and embraced her faith,
for the child would grow,
     and
                                          walk
                                                  away,
                                  without
     her.

Beautifully sad. The type of poem that makes me want to weep from bitter joy, for sing in sweet anguish. Thank you for another emotional and incredibly well-done poem :)
