The candle within

The candle within

A Poem by Silvanus Silvertung
"

written when I was nine.

"
Oh candle - oh candle
Oh candle so bright
Grant us - oh grant us
Oh grant us your light

There is within us, a spark of fire
What do we gain by blood of our sire?
The wind is mind - the water heart
And fire within us is always sharp

Oh candle - oh candle
Oh candle so bright
Grant us - oh grant us
Oh grant us your light

There is within us, a stalk of wax
Ever flexing - never lax
It’s the home of many, we call them bees
There’s a sting within us one never sees

Oh candle - oh candle
Oh candle so bright
Grant us - oh grant us
Oh grant us your light
There is within us an awesome wick
It’s your life path to which you must stick
The moth flutters through the flame
Which one of them is to blame?

Oh candle - oh candle
Oh candle so bright
Grant us - oh grant us
Oh grant us your light
