Love me not

Love me not

A Poem by Silvanus Silvertung
"

A love poem

"

Hold not my hand fair maid

For with these hands I am meant to make

Things for which I will never be paid

That with the beauty of mine hand awake.

Kiss not my lips dear girl

For these lips were meant to speak

Around wise words my tongue need curl

That my dry lips may sweetness creak.

Close not my eyes my love

For this world need be mine to see

No sight drunk in will ever be enough

I must seek with sight life’s mystery.

Nay, stand by me back to back

That your velveteen eyes may make up for my lack.
