PomegranateA Poem by Silvanus SilvertungA love poemI find you everywhere
Pieces placed strategically in faces
and angles that edge at your image.
It tugs at me. You are not uncommon
I find joy in that, in the bounce of your walk as I wear it approaching home
and the color of your hair, replicated on a hundred other heads. I have never been one to find value in uniqueness.
Give me multiples rather than one prime number.
I’ll pattern you shadowed against a wall
and find chaos hidden, a Physicists secret desire. I would ask you a question for a question, but how can I now?
You’re scattered everywhere.
A scent in a science lab
Or the ubiquitous black clothing on a college campus. I don’t know how I didn’t see it before.
A property of matter is it's You-ness.
Everything’s bound together by the strong force, weak force, and a tendency towards different colored eyes. Now if only I understood you,
I would understand the world.
One is more complicated than the other, so I look to the simpler. The way leaves bounce like a dress when you dance.
the reflection at the glass, poised against a sudden drop.
When I’m studying for days unheard from, you know what I’m looking for. I’m trying to create a story, the way I always do.
And I’m looking for the parts.
Be a part of my story. Be the moment between gathering flowers and being carried underground. I’ll be a beast, only beautiful at night, with lamp oil spilled on my skin. I’ll offer you a pomegranate.
and nine months out of the year you can live in the rain.
