As You Willed
You spread yourself out for me
like a feast.
At the banquet table I ate and I drank
and I consumed you.
Gluttonous,
Ravenous,
Skeletal and underfed ,
Like an ill-mannered urchin
scavenging for bread...
I took all that was laid out.
I ate it, and I spread the left overs on me
like warm dripping butter,
over frail bones to ward off the cold.
The tender fillet of love
that had escaped my empty table for a lifetime
prepared with an invitation to come and be filled...
So I ate and I drank and I consumed you,
as you willed.
