I might not be American, but this poem certainly makes me feel the pain and loss of this tragic day as if I were. A poignant and concise poem about tragedy, loss and terrorism. Thank you for sharing your feelings and words with us. Terrorists are indeed true cowards, it is just very tragic then that we have so many cowards running rampant in all countries. I feel your anguish over this day, and, with you, I too will remember this day and the family and friends that were lost. Everyone was changed that day, survivors included. It is up to us to remember the people and the tragedy, to learn from it, and to encourage a better way of living. I stand with you, Paloma - whole-heartedly and hand-in-hand.

Thanks so much for your time and understanding, your words touched me.
So many people have written pieces today in honor of the innocent souls who lost their lives on that day.
But this one stands out to me as one of the most poignant and touching.
It saddens me that this event set the wheels in motion for so much hatred and subsequent acts of senseless violence and killing.
I like your use of the word "shackles' in the title, because we are held captive by the hatred.
there have been so many events the past two years, reminiscent of what happened that day...freedom is threatened and that feeling of security living in this country...almost evaporated...
it happens everywhere...and as you said, there is no rhyme or reason...
i wonder if there will ever be another season of peace in the world....

Doesn't seem we'll find peace any time soon, thanks for your kind words.
Paloma, I didn't get to read your review of my piece, and I couldn't accept your friend request; something's up with the website, or its server...maybe it is just unplugged. But I'll get there, promise. This piece really nails my thoughts also. It appears, through your author's note, that you knew someone who passed that horrific day? If so, my prayers are with them, ALL of them. Since you found my poem, if you care to go way back to my earliest posted poem, I wrote a piece called "shrouded sun (9/12/01)" I actually wrote it about a month after 9/11; I couldn't write for awhile after that day, too much hurt to which words would never do justice. So I am accepting your friend request (nice to 'meet' you!), I'll try a little later. take care...dan

'terrorist cowards' is a perfect description of those responsible for carrying out such horrific atrocities...filled with tainted ideologies and hatred, they slither through life tearing at the fabric of humanity, targeting the innocent in their quest to achieve their extremist goals...what you write about speaks to a single moment in history but these atrocities occur every single day in many places around the world... unfortunately , we will never be able to successfully combat terrorism because it is an ideology and as we remove scum from this world, more scum will take its place...i enjoyed your write very much...well-done

We all remember what we were doing 14 years ago today....just as we remember what we were doing on November 22, 1963. We must never forget and we must honor those who lost their lives that day. Even the survivors were forever changed....our country was forever changed. We will never forget. Your tribute is well written. Lydi**

Those dreadful days that changed history forever linger on in our minds. Thanks so much Lydi.
Bravo! Can't wait to read more of your work :~)
You sentence structure takes away some of the flow of this remorseful and touching poem. I hope I haven't over stepped my bounds and ask your forgiveness if I have offended you, but if I may be so bold as to offer an editing critique:
Shackled within sorrow
No season or rhyme
For this reasoning
The ruthlessness
Of terrorist cowards
Gone up in flames
A midst freedom's toll
Taking down towers
Of dearly departed humanity

Another speck of carbon, this one.
Sentient and sagacious, yet affable.
Advocate of Fantasy and Gaming, this one.
