The Allure of Autumn Trees

The Allure of Autumn Trees

A Poem by Bare trees

Walking through a gracefully carpet of Autumn leaves at the Naarder Eng reserve

As sizzling skies of summer

dispensed more heat across the hills,
October seized chilly reign
exchanging heat for chills.

Majestic trees of birch, in sway,
along the distant trail,
released a mass of florid leaves
that mounted in the dale.

Each brittle, colorful parasail,
rotated through their whirls,
and nose-dived as a regiment
in swirling twirls.

Yet if a blitz of bitter snow
will always make its stance,
winter flakes cannot compare to
this autumn tree romance.

I love the last stanza!

A colorful seasonal poem ending with the promise of winter arriving soon. Very visual and scenic with nature in mind.
Nice graphic image, too.

but they sure go down in a blaze of glory---all that beauty as those leaves die and get pushed from the tree....

like people...we seem to notice the colors of their lives so much more towards the end...the appreciation often comes too late...when that north wind blows and their lives chill to death.

October is my favorite month...crisp, clean...and there is love, even with the death of summer on the horizon.
