Sugary hills.

Sugary hills.

A Poem by Bare trees

Tina Palmer - RIBBONS OF SNOW original painting

Cold-biting breezes sweep sugary hills
as autumn is bitten by wintery chills.
And silky white snowdrifts, frozen in time,
enfold, like waves suspended.

Heavenly jewels sparkle bright
on powdered seas, where diamonds shine.

They shimmer on fields in tides of snow,
winking their crystal eyes at those
who promised their lover the stars.

On kitten's feet, they come at night,
adrift like feathers, floating light;
swaying to the hush of a Christmas song
whose winter chorus flutters along
to the lyrics
    of a whispering wind.

I like how you ended it with a rhyming stanza. It was like reading a lovely combination of prose and poem.

Thank you for your review.
Perfectly capturing the scene of the beauty and harshness hat Mother nature likes to surprise us with at times, throwing a curveball of what essentially is chaos and blanketing us with beauty with it. She is such a complex chic, that Ma nature :)

You paint a lovely winter landscape with your words.
Love the third stanza in this one!
Very unique on the season's changing before our eyes, and inculpating the sense of feeling too.

You are welcome! :)
The last stanza was lovely " on kittens feet..."
I'm not sure what a varmint is, I'll figure it out though. :)

Thank very much.
Its incredible ... not something I expected to find from folks around the White House area. Its the first time ... I came across someone who dared warm the cold ... break the ice ... and start something new. But then again ... the poet may be getting in touch with his fem side ... and wonders if its natural for a man to feel this way. I'll say this ... it thawed for me a lot of stuff that lay frozen. Good job Cowboy ... and in the tradition of folks around here ... thanks.

Thank very much.
On kitten's feet
they come at night,
adrift like feathers
floating light;
swaying to the hush
of a lonely song,
whose wintry ballad
flutters along,
to the lyrics
of a whispering
wind...

the quoted lines are dancing in my heartsoul...so beautiful the image everlasting...thank you so very much for touching my life with such elegance...
