Double Edged

Double Edged

A Poem by Pakino

Where does my desire lay

Underneath my shadows

Of images of lust

Or over my mind

In a fantasy of reality

Where does my voice lay

Towards the echo

Of endless eternity

Or a being

Encompassing beauty

Where does my reason lay

Blackened with clouds

Of ignorance and blasphemy

Or on a cliff

Ready to fall without reason

Where does my love lay

Shrouded in mystery

Of Aristotle’s wisdom

Or closed

Like a flightless bird

Endless passion, gone…

Endless love, gone…

Forgotten as the martyrs of lore

I stand on my feet and unsheathe my sword

At the trials ahead

Forever drenched in conflict

For the double edged love has consumed my fate

I write this poem based of a moment in my life where I liked a certain girl but after having a crush of her I lost my hopes for her and now continue my life searching for what love means or what having a relationship is. I hope this poem can relate to someone. I usually dont write poems of this nature (love) but I wanted to explore a topic of love that is rarely discussed on WC. Honest feedback is welcomed.

I liked this poem for you. I have read some of your other work and I must say that this one of my favorite pieces. It shows a side of you that you do not normally see. I liked the line:

"For the double edged love has consumed my fate."

That line speaks so strongly of how love is bittersweet. Excellent.

I like this theme for you- it shows a side I have never seen before (as you stated above)...and it was very moving.

I loved the lines:
"Endless passion, gone
Endless love, gone"...you touched on two strong components of what makes a couple.

Great job :D

I think it's very good. You say you don't write love poems often, and maybe that's what makes this poem beautiful. And I must say, good title! :D
