“Khalon! Sit down,” the old man said with a smile.

I sat down as instructed and stared deep into the old man’s eyes, past his wrinkled face.

The man began to cough as he spoke, “Khalon there is a disturbance occurring amongst the Spirits.”

“Yes Elder, I sensed the disturbance as well.”

“The Spirits are what govern our lives and create balance in our lives. Fire needs Water as Lightning needs Earth.”

“I belive you have come up with some plan,” I asked the Elder cutting his flow of thought.

I man smiled as he continued, “Sharp as always Khalon. Take your sister and travel by caravan. Find out what is causing the disruption and fix it.”

These were the instructions I was given by the Elder the day before I left on this journey. I held the balance of the world in my fingertips. If I failed, the world would face destruction. Having found my sister trapped in the hands of the Captain, my journey took a startling turn of events.

Rose, the unknown beautiful maiden, I found in the forest was attacked my vicious wolves. Defending her and myself from their onslaught we managed to go deeper into the forest. Before I knew it a spell was cast and I got swept into a dark hole that lead to an abyss.

That was all that I remembered as I slowly opened my eyes finding myself in the forest. My arms were tied to a tree dangling by the tide of the wind. I slowly peered below and noticed I still had my belongings.

My sence of space and direction was distorted. The rumbling of my stomach, made me wonder if I was uncouncious for a few days. No matter what I case I had to leave. For if days had past, my dear sister’s life hanged by a thread.

I slowly raised my stiff head and noticed Rose standing in the distance.

            “Rose! Rose!” I shouted.

Rose quickly turned her head and let out a smile, “Khalon you are awake!”

            “Rose! Help free me.”

Rose smiled as she shook her head in disagreement, “I cannot!”

“What are you saying?” A hint of fear ran through me.

“It is all just an illusion. My life, yours. I must reawaken everyone from their dream.”

Instantly, Rose’s body began to disintegrate like a torrent of wind blowing a deck of cards. Just moments ago where Rose stood a female clad in only leaves appeared before me. Her skin was soft and white and her hair blonde like the sun.

“The Spirit Tetra, Mistress of the Earth,” I said astounded that the presence of the Sprit before me.

Tetra walked towards me and placed her hand on my chin and said in a soft voice, “What is it you desire, human? Is it to save your sister? Or solve the riddle?”

“Sprit, tell me what is occurring in the Lands of the Magus, what troubles are brewing that plagues the soul’s of man?”

Tetra took a step back and said, “Human, you speak words of judgment and justice. What decree do you have to fix wrong?”

            “Decree?”

“Precisely,” Tetra said in a strong tone, “Humans, your words are nothing but false promises. The woods were once home to my children and your kin. As time passed you humans have erred in path and have forgotten the promises and treasures I have bestowed onto you. Human, today you shall serve as a sacrifice.”

On those words I quickly acted the speed spell that I performed on the guards and slipped from the vines. Free from my hold I quickly grabbed out my sword and charged at the Sprit.

“Tetra, your heart has gone astray. Do not be misguided.”

“Foolish human,” shouted Tetra as she released a torrent of vines towards me.

Dodging the vines I raised my hand and enacted a flame spell,

“Protector of Courage

Enact your Mercy upon thee

Be the eyes of steel

Flame Sword!”

My sword soon was engulfed with flames, the bright light filled the entire forest. Upon noticing the spell Tetra shouted, “Human, do you not see the truth. You bear weapons of disaster to my forest. Now as I protect my children you set you destroy them.”

A torrent of air began to circulate Tetra as she herself prepared her attack. The vines that aimed at piercing my body began to grow thorns. The thorns began to surround the outer layer of the vines acting as if shielding the vines from any contact from my flame. Without any further delay I sized the moment and attempted to strike at Tetra with my sword. Tetra, dodged the attack however the sparks from my flame scratched her chest.

Tetra slowly fell back from the sudden attack, I quickly turned my body around and landed a blow from my hilt in Tetra’s chest. Noticing victory in my hands I leaped at Tetra and placed my sword at her neck allowing the flames to slowly burn her.

“I understand, Spirit your hate for us humans. But do not forget that all humans do not possess the malice you speak of. Oh Sprit, calm your rage. Hatred spread like fire and consumes the soul. Do not fall for the darkness Sprit.”

Silence filled the room as Tetra looked at me in surprise.

            “Khalon is it?”

            “Yes.”

            “Die!”

The vines that I ignored lunged towards me piercing my shoulder and legs, immobilizing me. My sword dropped from my grip as I lay suspended in the vines.

Tetra slowly stood up and let out a serene smile and said while digging her nails in my chin, “Perhaps I should enjoy the moment before I kill you.”

As Tetra advanced her body towards me, a ball of flame emerged from the forest hitting Tetra on the arm.

“Khalon! I should have come with you,” came a voice.

I looked beside me and noticed the Captain beside me wearing his suit of armor and black cape. He held a spear and was grinning at the sight of Tetra.

“Dark Art

Reveal thy self

Oblivion of Darkness

Soul Eater!”

Instantly the ground began to shake as skeletal warriors emerged. They quickly ran towards Tetra and grabbed hold of her binding her to the ground. The Captain did not waste time in the attack and quickly cast another spell.

“God of the Light and Dark

Grab the soul

Of your living grace

Palms of Destiny!”

Instantly, a light began to shine at Tetra causing her body to float.

“If I have to!” Shouted Tetra, “I will return and kill you Khalon and you to Dark Knight!”

The Captain smiled as he waved goodbye to Tetra, with that Tetra’s body disappeared into the light. The vines that chained me became loose. I fell to the ground with a thud, the Captain noticing me fall quickly aided in in removing the vines and throns on my body.

“Careless!” The Captain said, “Let us leave this place. Close your eyes and rest.”

My energy let me as I closed my eyes and fainted.

When I awoke I felt my hands and arm numb and leg stiff. The battle was over with the Tetra the Spirit. However the sudden arrival of the Captain in the battle surprised me. My confusion abrubtly ended as the Captain appeared before me. Before I was able to speak the Captain began.

“The name is Sy. I am a Dark Knight of the King. First, I want to apologize for my rudeness earlier, your sister is safe and has returned to your village. I did that intentionally to conceal my identity. I am aware of your journey since your Elder appointed myself to join you in combat.”

“Then why leave me alone?” I demanded.

“I apologize the Elder instructed me to this Khalon. Second, the Spirit Tetra, Mistress of the Earth was the cause of the disturbance. I cast a spell to seal her for the time being. The seal will be destroyed eventually we must act now if we plan on meeting Tetra in the future.”

“The situation has gotten serious,” I said softly.

“Yes, once you are healed we will leave together and head to your village.”

I fell back and let out a sigh, I was relieved to hear the news of my sister. However, the thought of Tetra being free and creating chaos filled my mind. The balance and order of the world would be lost and madness would plague the land. In my mind I resolved to spend my entire life awaiting for the moment to strike. The moment of truth has begun to count down when the world will hang onto the hope of man. How the actions of one person could break or destroy the world. If this is fate it is cruel isn’t it?

So far so good. Still the few grammatical and spelling errors, but I'm sure you will be doing some editing eventually anyway lol. I enjoyed how at the beginning of each part you had snippets of what went on before the start of the actual story. I have to admit I wouldn't mind seeing more of what happened before Khalon and his sister were captured by the guards. It also seemed like the whole ordeal with Tetra went a bit fast. Overall though, detail is great, storyline is beautiful. I loved it, and I can't wait to see more in the story of Khalon!

I loved it! I am a bit frustrated at the "to be continued" but understand now that I have read your note about the book. Please let me know when it's ready, I will be first in line to read it. I think there were a few typo's, one of them threw me off for a second but I figured it out soon enough. Other than that BRAVO, I LOVED THE WHOLE SERIES! Thanks for bringing me into the "forest". SMILES ;) ;) ;)
