What you do,
the way you dress, the way you love someone,
your smile, personality
the way you drink tea
your dreams, how you decorate your home, how you party
how your writing looks, the way you feel
We are all artists in our own right
Life is your blank canvas, paint it with emotions
Whether colourful, monochrome, detailed and clarified
or wild crazy and expressive
life is a unfinished painting
now go and paint
Sarrah, I truly LOVE this poem and its message! In fact, I think it's just what I needed to hear at the moment.
"What you do, the way you dress, the way you love someone/your smile, your personality," these are things that, intuitively, I know makes up a person's "painting," if you will, but I think it's easy to forget that in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
And I also love the line, "Life is your blank canvas, paint it with emotions." That, especially, really speaks to me. In fact, I love to sometimes put motivational sayings up in my cubicle at work (as cheesy as that may sound) - I just might use that one and credit it to you.
I only have one small critique of the poem - that's in the second to last line...I think you meant to say, "life is [an] unfinished painting." Although, of course, it is up to you...and because the message of the poem is "painting your own life," then I will leave it to you to paint your own poem, so to speak.
