SO WHAT IF I AM A BLACK WOMAN (REVISED)
A Poem by
~Paedams
This poem reflects upon being a black woman in a society that says she's not beautiful. It also speaks to black men about their negative comments towards women of color. THEIR WOMEN.
SO W.H.A.T... IF I AM A BLACK WOMAN?!!! You treat me as if I am some contagious disease? M.A.N. please! Too ugly and nappy headed to be worthy of your love I'm better than that and you are just a scrub. My lovin ' is so good; the white man would manufacture it, if he could. I can see it now:THE MOST EVER WANTED PRODUCT ON THE MARKET "U.N.I.S.E.X ~ THE BLACK WOMAN IN A BOTTLE"!!! Oh, I'm smart; but continuing to learn.Lovable ; but hateful. And definitely know how to burn! Yes, I am insane! Being insane gives me the drive to seek my destiny Too clothe, protect and feed my family The will to hurdle over all obstacles It gives me the strength to love a black man, Over and over and over again!!! I am as beautiful as beautiful can be!!! It's in my walk and the way I speak. It resides so deep you can't even see, But you see enough to know This black woman has survived things An white girl could not withstand An Asian girl could never comprehend The depth of the Love I have for my man, That would leave a Latino scratching her head. There is much talk about the dilemma of the black woman: Don't worry about me; I've been surviving 300 years or more Of humiliation , rumors, abuse and misuse. You must didn't know, I am the strongest thing standing So when you come against me, best, to do your planning. I come in every shade: Blacker than black, Dark Chocolate, Caramel and Beige I'm Miss America, home of the free land of the brave!!! I have been raising generations after generations Through hell and high water, Sun up and sun down. I can take bread and make a meal, Take a penny and make it into dollars.God, gave me the blessing of making a way out of no way!! Surviving yet another day... My hair is wavy, you say nappy. Doesn't matter, because all I want is to to be happy. Don't hate because my curves are envied world wide Shake it girl, shake it, and do it with pride! So What If I am a Black woman? Big lips, big hips and the Middle center that's chocolate dipped!! You can have any woman of the world; But, I got what she wants, because I am the genuine pearl. Yes, I am a BLACK W.O.M.A.N!!! Not taking your s**t, Not hearing your lip. I want a grown man, done with all the games. Proud to call me his woman and with me he will always stay. It's not my mouth that runs black men away; Game recognizes Game and I don't play! So What If I Am A Black Woman? And accomplishing what I do....I still need a Strong Beautiful Black Man like you!! ~ Paedams Copyright 2011. All rights reserved to Paedams.
