THE DAY MY WORLD STOOD STILLA Poem by ~PaedamsChristmas Day....go away!Age seven is the age I will never forget The first time death and I met. This was the day my world stood still The morning air held a cold chill. I was looking forward to the rest of the day After all it was Christmas, I had many toys in which to play.
We sat down to breakfast and talked a while I remember how we laughed and smiled. When done I went back to play A few hours later the sky turned gray. Suddenly there was knock at the door I heard a man crying and my mom falling to the floor.
I remember my dad trying to revive my mother While I watched, my body shuttered. From that point everything seem to slow down It was if the room begin to spin around. As I stepped back into my room I felt funny and filled with doom.
I had yet to find out what was going on Somewhere deep inside I knew it was wrong. When I first heard the words "She's dead", Everything went blank in my head. Why, was all I could say This can't be happening on Christmas Day! This was the day my world stood still The day my aunt was shot and killed.
A childhood memory I wish I could forget Every year at Christmas, I break out in a cold sweat. The world is happy and everyone is filled with cheer I just close my eyes and wish for the quick arrival of the New Year.
