The Road

The Road

A Poem by PadfootBlack

Quick to smile and cheeks all flushed
We take our time, try not to rush
For tomorrow is a future that always comes.

So forgetting what we think we know
Let's stroll along this lonely road
oblivious to the problems of the world

And oh, you're the sweetest thing
a little bit of everything
that's beautiful and good in the world.
So slow your heart, let's walk not run
Lift your face to the noonday sun
And don't forget that life can't be redone.

Glance back at the footprints in the sand
We'll laugh together as I take your hand
Wrinkles creasing the eyes I've come to love

And I'll never forget the way you glowed
as we turned back to walk this lovely road.

What a lifting, wondrous write... you travel us across that sweet road, and all the while your words flow and fly like lyrics... Beautifully emotive and glowing.

The most beautiful road in life is often like this: quiet, calm, and never disturbed. With a loved one on your arm and all the time in the world to go wherever you want, whenever you want . . . who can ask for more?

What lovely flow and tenderness in this "Easy like a Sunday Morning" write...

Nice. You know, here and there, at the beginning of some verses I started thinking to myself, the words seemed cliche. But you tie up every verse wonderfully, making this not about a line, but the work as a whole. Nice job
